Thousands of bike-curious people are expected to flock to the lakeside in Albert Park for Bicycle Network’s E-bike Expo next weekend, where they’ll have the unique opportunity to experience the cutting edge of clean transportation and test ride a huge lineup of e-bikes.

The free community event on Saturday 5 October follows the success of Bicycle Network’s E-bike Expo in April, where more than 2000 people came along to learn about the ways e-bikes can change lifestyles.

By gathering e-bikes from range of high-profile manufacturers in one location, the E-bike Expo offers an opportunity to engage with industry experts, explore different types of e-bikes and test them all in a safe riding environment.

Other attractions on the day include entertainment, food trucks, coffee vans, a bar, competitions, giveaways and cherry picker rides.

E-bikes are sweeping the country as replacements for second cars. More than 85% of survey respondents at the last E-bike Expo said they were interested in owning and riding an e-bike, and 95% of them said they’d likely attend another E-bike Expo in the future.

Where: United Energy Around the Bay Village, Pelican Lawn, 22 Aughtie Dr, Albert Park VIC 3205.

The Ride That Stops Melbourne – Sunday 6 October

Bicycle Network is thrilled to offer the E-bike Expo as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of United Energy Around the Bay, where it will feature as part of the event village across the weekend.

Tour de France champion Richie Porte, SBS commentators Matthew Keenan and Simon Gerrans, and Melbourne to Warrnambool winner Matilda Raynolds are among the bike riding royalty participating in the event, along with recovering AFLW star Steph Chiocci and the nine legends who have ridden the event every year since it began in 1993.

“United Energy Around the Bay has helped make Melbourne a bike riding destination and it is one of few major cities in the world with this sort of bike riding event. Rides like this are usually the preserve of regional centres,” Keenan says.

More than 7000 riders will participate in six ride options:

5.25am      300km challenge
5.30am      220km Classic – ambassador Richie Porte
6.45am      100km ride
7am           135km Geelong challenge – ambassador Simon Gerrans
7.45am      Bosch e-bike systems 50km ride
8.45am      FREE Family Ride around a closed Albert Park Lake
