Green Action Program NSW 2023 participants
Expressions of interest now open for the Green Action Program
Applications have opened today for Australia’s flagship sustainability course for music businesses – the Green Action Program (GAP).
Following the success of the 2023 NSW program, GAP 2024 will upskill metropolitan and regional NSW music organisations to better understand, monitor, and improve their environmental performance and climate ambition. Previous alumni include ABC Music, Unified Music Group, The Corner Hotel, arn (Australian Radio Network), Brunswick Ballroom, MusicNSW and more.
Emma Bosworth, National Program Manager of Green Music Australia says, “We are thrilled to be able to offer another cohort of NSW music businesses the opportunity to participate in this important program.”
“Every sector needs to find ways to lead on climate. Not just because it’s the right thing to do and the science demands it, but because it’s fast becoming an expectation. More and more artists are seeking out labels who walk the talk, audiences are growing tired of waste at live music events and employees want to work for companies who can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. The Green Action Program is the perfect opportunity for businesses to reduce their impact and join the movement to create a safe and sustainable music scene.”
Fiona McAuliffe, ABC Music Label Manager says “GAP was so beneficial in bringing environmental issues to the forefront of ABC Music’s business discussions and planning. I can’t wait to continue learning and taking action for our planet and people.”
Expressions of interest are open to all music businesses with offices in New South Wales. Head to Green Music Australia’s website for more information.
Fees to participate in GAP NSW are heavily discounted thanks to the support of our partners, the NSW Environment Protection Authority, the Australian Government through Creative Australia and the NSW Government through Create NSW.
Participants will undertake a range of hands-on learning modules and workshops including:
- First Nations First – why platforming First Nations voices matters to sustainability
- Policy and procedure development – how to embed climate action into organisational structures
- Regulatory environment – review of recent legislative changes including plastic bans and emission reduction targets
- Measuring impact – capturing and using data to set goals and identify and meet sustainability objectives
- Energy 101 – A walk-through onsite energy audit at a live music venue
- Climate leadership – gaining skills to lead operational change and achieve stakeholder approval
Participating organisations will have their business’ environmental impact data analysed and benchmarked by Green Music Australia’s music industry sustainability measurement tool Amidesi.
The Green Action Program is delivered thanks to the support of the NSW Environment Protection Authority, the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body, and the NSW Government through Create NSW.
