IDEAS INVITED FOR HAMLYN PARK RECREATION RESERVE VISION

Community members are invited to share their ideas and opportunities to help shape the future vision of Hamlyn Park Recreation Reserve.

The feedback provided will be used to inform the development of a new master plan for the reserve.

Hamlyn Park Recreation Reserve, located at Calvert Street in Hamlyn Heights, is a valued asset for locals and currently caters to a variety of organised sport and recreation and informal activities.

Due to the diverse use of this reserve, the master plan will aim to balance the sporting and recreation needs of user groups with the interests of the broader community.

Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher encouraged residents to take part in this process and share their ideas.

Families, individuals and a variety of clubs already make great use of this reserve and we want to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the community now and in 10 years’ time.

Think about what you’d like to see, what could be improved and provide your feedback online or in-person at one of the drop-in sessions scheduled.

Community members can share comments online by completing a survey and dropping a pin on the virtual map or by attending one of two in-person drop-in sessions at the Alex Rizun Pavilion on site.

Bookings are required online to attend a drop-in session at one of the below times:

  • 4.00pm – 6.00pm on Wednesday 17 November
  • 4.00pm – 6.00pm on Thursday 18 November
  • Online drop-in: 10.00am – 11.00am Wednesday 17 November

Cr Peter Murrihy, Chair of the Leisure and Recreation portfolio, looked forward to seeing the ideas and feedback captured in this engagement.

We’re really interested to see the results of this engagement and what the community wants this open space to look like in 2031.

It’s important this reserve is a place that everyone in Hamlyn Heights can enjoy, whether you’re playing a game of footy or there for a picnic with loved ones.

Feedback from the community will inform the development of the draft Hamlyn Park Reserve Master Plan, which will be presented to Council in mid-2022.

Community members are encouraged to provide feedback before Friday 3 December 2021 via the website.
