In-person Council meetings will return this month, after almost 10 consecutive months of online meetings.
The next meeting will be held at Council Chambers, 1 Merrijig Drive Torquay, at 6pm on Tuesday 22 March.
Community members are welcome to attend and will need to show proof of COVID vaccination.
Mayor Cr Libby Stapleton said she was excited for face-to-face Council meetings to return.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to the chambers and actually seeing people’s faces, especially our community members,” she said.
“As great as Zoom is, nothing beats meeting with people in person.”
“The last face-to-face Council meeting was held on 25 May last year. All up, we held 19 Council meetings, including meetings for hearing of submissions, online.”
“We’ll continue to livestream the meetings with live captioning, because we know that’s easier for a lot of people, but I’m glad that community members also have the option of going along.”
In line with the Department of Health guidance, face masks will not be required at the meeting, however people can choose to wear them if they wish.
The agenda will be posted prior to the meeting at www.surfcoast.vic.gov.au/CouncilMeetings. Anyone can also livestream the meeting at this website.
