Prince Andrew and Duchess Fergie have welcomed the news that eldest daughter Princess Beatrice and her husband property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have welcomed a baby girl, on Saturday.
Edoardo is the son of former Olympic skier, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Williams-Ellis.
For the two who only married last year, it is their first child, weighing in at 6lb 2oz. The couple chose the Chelsea and Westminister Hospital for the delivery.
Princess Beatrice isn’t a full time working royal, however does hold the position of Vice President of partnerships and strategy at Afiniti, an artificial intelligence software firm. She also continues to play an active roll as patrol of a number of charities, including the “Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, The Teenager Cancer Trust and the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
Due to covid restrictions, the pair decided to go ahead with a private ceremony back in July 2020, around the same time as allegations that her father Prince Andrew was involved in sexual abuse of a then child, Virginia Giuffre.
The Princess isn’t new to motherhood, as she already is stepmother to Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s son Christopher Woolf [affectionately known as Wolfie] from a previous relationship with Dara Huang. And of course the princess became an aunt for the first time in February, when her sister Princess Eugenie gave birth to her first son, whom she named “August”.
When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex added to their family with the birth of their second child “Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor” in June, this moved the princess from 9th in line to the throne to 10th.
That means the new addition to the Royal family will place her 11th in line to the throne and is the Her Majesty’s 12th great grandchild.
The latest from Buckingham Palace is that both the Princess and her daughter are doing well, and both grandparents and great grandparents were delighted and would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.
Princess Beatrice later tweeted;-
“so delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter”, thanking the midwife team and everyone at the hospital “for their wonderful care”.
The Princess has not been seen in public since 16th September when she celebrated the 10th anniversary of the “Forget me not Children’s Hospice” garden party.
