Lions Australia supporting primary school students plant trees

The countdown is on for National Tree Day this Sunday, 28 July, and Australia’s largest community service organisation, Lions Australia, is celebrating its commitment to the environment.

Since 1972, Lions Clubs have been dedicated to environmental projects. Each year, Clubs in Australia undertake more than 3,000 environmental initiatives ranging from tree planting to participating in clean-ups and creating and managing community gardens.

Lions Australia remains steadfast in its focus on the environment, alongside other key areas such as hunger relief, humanitarian efforts, medical research, disaster response, hearing, vision and diabetes support.

Lions Australia CEO Rob Oerlemans:

“At Lions, we take pride in our efforts to enhance our communities and contribute to the well-being of our local, national and global environments.”

“Our history is rich with examples of community gardens created and maintained by Lions Clubs across Australia.”

“Lions Australia marked its 75th anniversary in 2022 by setting an ambitious goal: to plant 75 gardens across the country. Surpassing this target, we established over 100 gardens, showcasing our unwavering commitment to environmental causes.”

“This National Tree Day, we anticipate many of our members will be out in their communities, planting and tending to their gardens.”
