VOLUNTEERS GET READY FOR MARCH CLEAN-UP

Each year hundreds of volunteers get together and clean up creeks, beaches and other rubbished areas.

It’s all part of the national Cleanup Australia Day on Sunday 6 March 2022.

For first time volunteers, participating in the Cleanup Australia Day program is simple. All you need to do is register a site at Clean Up Australia.

If you have any queries you can contact the Cleanup Australia Day team on 1800 282 329.

Registrations for the Geelong region need to be completed by Friday 18 February 2022.

When you have found a site invite your friends, neighbours or work colleagues to help. Once registered Clean Up Australia will send you a clean up kit.

The City will contact you in the lead up to the event to see if you need a skip. If so one will be delivered to your site and removed after the event.

If you do not belong to a group but would like to volunteer it is easy as well. All you need to do is visit the Clean Up Australia website to locate a Clean Up site in your area.

Then simply turn up on the day with gloves, sturdy shoes, sunglasses and sun protection and sign-on as a volunteer.

For enquiries contact our Waste Education Officer on 03 5272 4337.
